Energy that generates life
Movhera is a newly created company through the transmission of Portugal’s second largest hydroelectric portfolio.
In December 2020, the consortium ENGIE, Crédit Agricole Assurances and Mirova became the operator of six hydropower plants previously operated by EDP, with a generation capacity of 1.7 GW and a weighted average remaining concession term of 45 years.
Our renewable hydropower portfolio in the North of Portugal is composed of six plants, Miranda, Picote, Bemposta, Baixo Sabor, Feiticeiro, Foz Tua.
They generate on average 3.4 TWh of green energy, and deliver flexibility services to the electric system, enabling the development of interruptible green energy in the country. Three plants are recently commissioned pumped storage units. The three others are run-of-the-river plants built in the fifties and sixties, and recently repowered.
